• Fentanyl is fast acting, so the time between dose and overdose can be minutes.

• Be prepared, have naloxone and fentanyl test strips

Not expecting fentanyl?

• Test your drugs with a fentanyl test strip.

Start low.

Go slow.

• Start with less. It is hard to know your dose if you have lowered tolerance (from abstinence, illness or being run down).

• Avoid mixing or use one drug at a time, using smaller amounts. Mixing substances increases risk of overdose.

• Use smaller amounts when changing routes of use. Smoking, snorting, injecting, etc, impact your body differently
